Can't wait for Opening Day!!

There's probably never a good time to have a baby with the social life that most of us like to live. So I am bound and determine to be able to incorporate our new little addition into the social things that i love to do. Why i bring this up is because we got opening day tickets for the royals again this year!! Yippee!! April 8th vs. the Yankees. Should be fun and i'm really hoping that i will at least be able to go out for awhile and see everyone. Our little girl should be here so I'll just have to wait and see. Then Mark and I have tickets to BonJovi on April 22nd. Finally, i have tickets to Wicked with the girls on May 9th. Probably dreamin' but hope to make it to all of these events!!

Kudos to the Reid's for scoring us opening day tickets this year. From what i hear, they are a very hot commodity since the Royals are playing the Yankees.

Mark and I attended our first HOA meeting the other night. Kind of surprising that out of 300+ homes in our subdivision, there were about 10 households represented. Actually this isn't as much as a surprise as it is a disappointment. I would think that we pay enough in HOA dues that residents would at least want to see what their money is going towards. Interesting to hear about the development that is springing up around us. Also was good to hear from one of our neighbors who is a Lenexa police officer about the crime in the area and what has been happening lately. We also found out that Lenexa has a program that if you are going on vacation, you can call Lenexa police dept and let them know the dates and they will actually do drive bys to your house on a daily basis. The afternoon shift even walks around your property to ensure everything is still locked up. What a great program. Wondering if other burbs do the same thing!!

Baby Shower

Weekend was very busy with family and friends as my sister and moms threw me a baby shower. The moms and Mark's Aunt Susie arrived Thurs night and all the sisters and my Aunt Linda arrived on Friday. Friday night we all went to Nina's basketball game. Wasn't one of her team's finer performances but she had fun playing and seems to improve each game on her defense skill.

Sat was very busy getting ready for the shower. My mom and Mark's mom did a fantastic job of preparing the food and helping me clean up the house. Mark escaped early in the morning to get his apparently very rare black duck stuffed. Took the thing to Clinton, MO to a taxidermist that was recommended to him. Assuming he headed straight to Tanners after that with Rooster.

The shower was so much fun. Thanks to all my friends for the fabulous gifts for the baby. I'm so excited to start on the room now and get it ready. Only 9 more weeks!! We received the bedding for the nursery from my girlfriends and lots of accessories for the room. Also got the diaper keeper and baby sling. Does anyone else have the baby sling instead of the baby bjorn? I'm very curious if I'll like this or not but seems to be much easier to use.

On another note, congrats to my friends Scott & Laura on the birth of their baby boy Colin. He weighed in at 9 lbs 1 oz!! Can't wait to see him.

So now is the day that Mark and I have been looking forward to all weekend, our day of rest!! Nina is going over to a friends for the afternoon to play and i see a nice long nap ahead of me. :)

Here goes nothing...

Well, I finally decided that it would be fun and hopefully beneficial to start a blog for our family. With the new little one on the way and so many friends / family scattered around the country, this is a great way to get everyone up to date with pictures and stories. Plus what a great place for me to vent!! haha

Things in the Friedman household are starting to get a little crazy. We have a baby shower this weekend hosted by my sister Monica and our moms. Decided to have this at my house to help Monica out since she lives in Lincoln, NE. Plus I don't have to transport everything afterwards. Mark can just carry it all to the nursery. :) So with this baby shower, we will have about 7 extra people staying with us and of course, Mark is soooo excited for that. hahaha He'll be escaping up to Craig, MO for the day with the Lab, Kutter, to do whatever he and his hunting buddies do up there. Anyways, we have my mom, sister, Aunt Linda, Mark's mom Sally, his sisters Laura and Anne and his Aunt Susie all staying with us thru out the weekend. What a great family bonding experience for us all. Should be fun though but i'm sure Sunday will be a nice day of rest for me.

Okay, that's good for now. Need to get back to work as I only have about a billion things to do and get organized before i go on maternity leave. My boss said i can take two weeks. haha He's so funny.
